Czech composer Antonín Dvořák spent two years in America at the end of the 19th century, and composed some of his most famous works here. Seattle's Klassikon String Quartet, including cellist and KUOW announcer Dave Beck, will explore some of the American influences on his music.
This 45-minute concert is particularly suited for children ages 6-12. Free hotdogs and lemonade on the lawn at 6 PM!

Aki Sogabe will demonstrate the art of kirie, a Japanese style of paper-cut art. Sogabe is a fine artist and an award-winning illustrator of at least seven children's books. Inspired by traditional Chinese paper cutting, Sogabe has created her own style by cutting images with an exacto knife from charcoal paper, which creates "windows" that are backed by hand-colored paper.
